New season styles have hit the stores and we’re ready to shop. Match new outfits with new makeup for a head-to-toe spring update.
The New Season Trench
Appearing on almost every catwalk from Balenciaga to Celine, the classic trench was bought into 2018 with contemporary twists like denim panels and oversized shapes. Go for a time-honoured, chic look by choosing a simple belted trench paired with a classic red lip. We love the orange-red punch of Rodin Luxury Lipstick in Tough Tomato, or choose the cool girl berry red Shanghai Express Lipstick by Nars.
If you’re up for experimenting, try wearing a mixed-up, new style trench with an unexpected ombré lip, By Terry’s new Twist On Lip houses two shades in one precision-shaped lipstick. For an easy ombré lip, simply swipe on in one fluid motion with the darker shade pointing inwards, then gently blend the darker shade slightly outwards with your little finger. To finish your look, take another cue from the catwalks and brush brows upwards using a mascara-style wand like Eyeko Brow Gel.
The Slip Dress
Nineties mainstay the slip dress is back with a vengeance, wear yours with ultra-glowy skin for a more modern approach. Get the look by starting with skincare and deeply cleanse away dirt and debris with the aromatic Eve Lom Cleanser. Next exfoliate with a gentle acid solution such as Ren Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic, which will help to brighten and smooth.
Vitamin C is proven to help fight dark spots and boost radiance, so try an enriched serum like Dr Dennis Gross C+ Collagen Brighten & Firm Vitamin C Serum and follow with Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser a glow-inducing hydrator, as dehydration often leads to dullness. Next, apply a light-reflecting primer, Becca Backlight Priming Filter contains crushed pearls and instantly provides an illuminating base for makeup. Soak and squeeze a Beautyblender and use it to gently glide Nars Sheer Glow Foundation across the complexion, concealing any areas of redness or dark spots. To finish, mist skin with the refreshing Caudalie Grape Water to leave skin looking dewy.
The Statement Pencil Skirt
This season’s pencil skirt says so much more than ‘boardroom’ opt for a slightly looser, more forgiving cut with playful details, such as the high-waisted styles on show at Victoria Beckham, Fendi and Prada.
Team yours with bold eye makeup and have fun with colour this season. We can’t get enough of the gorgeous new eye palettes from Becca, By Terry and Kevyn Aucoin that offer bold, playful shades. To get the look choose your favourite bright shade, we like the Surratt’s bold blue Minuit. Next, prep the eye area with a primer like Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, then using a small brush, push your chosen colour into the upper lash line and wash all over the lid before blending into the eye crease. Take a matching eye liner pencil, we recommend Nars Larger Than Life Eyeliner as it comes in a good range of colours and use along the upper and lower waterline. Finish with lashings of black mascara.
Matchy matchy never looked so good.
