Between 12pm to 2pm and any time after 5.30pm the top panel of your Instagram feed is likely to be brimming with red ‘LIVE’ circles. From your local fitness boutiques to celebrity PTs, they’re all streaming 45-minute HIIT workouts or hour-long yoga sessions. However, after over two months of working out solo in front of a screen, you’re not alone if you’re suffering with a bout of fitness fatigue.
Fortunately 1Sculpt’s dream team duo, Nathalie Lohrasby & Jeannine Desmier are here to help reset our mindset and get us moving. From their speedy warm-up routine to the post-workout beauty heroes, Nathalie and Jeannine are determined to boost our energy levels. Here are their top tips…
Get Up & Get Going
Most of us are spending a lot more time at home, so it’s important to make sure we’re making a conscious effort to get up and get our body moving. Whether it’s kick-starting your day with a run or logging on to a 6pm HIIT class via Zoom, it’s about finding something you enjoy and sticking to a routine.
It’s not just about improving your fitness levels, working out can really help to boost your mental health. If you’re feeling demotivated, one of the best ways to change your mindset is to get your body moving.
We kept this in mind when we created the 1Sculpt Dance Cardio routine. The workout is full of all your favourite dance moves and helps to turbocharge your energy levels and boost your mood for the rest of the day.
Don’t Be Afraid To Try Something New
If you’re starting to feel less motivated to go for your usual run, switch up your routine and try something new. There is a huge selection of fitness routines on YouTube and lots of local studios are streaming group classes on Zoom, including us. We’ve also been sharing shorter workouts on our Instagram.
Make The Most Of Your Workout
Regardless of the type of exercise you’re doing, make sure you add in a warm up and cool down either side of the workout. A great warm up would be: four-to-six roll downs, followed by marching on the spot, progressing to a light jog and finishing with a plank. A great cool down would include stretches for your hamstrings, quads, gluts and upper body.
During your workout you should try to keep your abs engaged where possible. With our classes and a lot of dance, sculpt and HIIT classes, you can keep it low impact by replacing jumps with steps.
Nathalie’s Post-Workout Beauty Heroes
As someone with quite oily skin, I don’t like anything that feels too heavy. Not only does this cleanser feel super light, but it also leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean after exercising. Once you start using this product there’s no going back, believe me!
When we’re in the studio we run super early classes and are usually up at 5am. I need something that is going to wake me up and keep my skin energised and moisturised throughout the day. This moisturiser does just that. Plus, it’s very lightweight and my makeup sits well on top.
I bought this a few months ago because everyone kept telling me how great it was and now I can’t live without it. It feels light, gives my skin a little bit of shimmer and makes me feel glam. I wear it on its own with a little bit of concealer, or under foundation if I feel like I need extra coverage.
While I don’t use a lot of self-tan, this is a product I genuinely love. In the summer I tend to add a couple of drops to my moisturiser once a week. This gives me a smooth, streak-free tan and there’s no tell-tale biscuity scent. Even if you’re someone who’s usually nervous about self-tan, I would recommend giving this product a go.
Anyone who knows me and Jeannine will know that we are obsessed with brows. And, this brow pencil has to be one of my favourite products for the simple reason that is does not move. We sweat all day in sessions and my eyebrows do not move. It has a super thin tip, so you can sketch on your brows and the coverage is buildable.
